At Early Impressions we have a natural environment, with interesting play objects, and we choose to let our little ones lead. Your child will be making sensory discoveries constantly. They notice, explore, and experiment.

We weave play, discovery, real life tasks and nourishing rituals to create an inviting and vibrant space for children to learn and grow in. Our programme is based on freedom of choice and movement, and learning through authentic, self-chosen play. Each child’s pace, preferences and passions are respected and responded to.

Play
Children don’t need us to ‘teach’ them how to play, they need us to allow them to follow their own play instincts and patterns. Children were born to play! We can help, or we can hinder. We can allow, or we can disrupt. We can stifle creativity, or unleash their imagination. Children learn about the world through play.
Loose Parts
Loose parts are passive objects until they come to life in the hands and minds of our children. Loose parts unlimit the children, unlock their imagination, and unleash their PLAY. Seemingly ordinary objects are the answer to extraordinary play. To see the loose parts in action is to see the children in action - fully. Head, hands and heart.
Rituals
Mindful, intentional rituals create feelings of safety, predictability and aroha. Rituals transform the ordinary into something more special for our children. Mealtimes, and celebrations such as birthdays are care-in-action, and the children can anticipate and participate in the flow of these events.
