AN INVITING AND VIBRANT SPACE TO LEARN AND GROW IN

OUR PLACE IS THERE TO HOLD THEM!

Our environment is lovingly, invitingly, and purpose-fit for our unique group of young children. Everything is for hands-on exploration. We value natural treasures and ‘loose parts’ so children are also hands-on with nature and their own imaginations. Stimulation, challenge, creativity - it’s all on offer, each and every day.

We not only provide a natural environment, we also provide a homely environment that nurtures your child’s emotional wellbeing, in an atmosphere of calm and warmth. But not just your child! We provide a warm, welcoming, supportive environment for you too! We encourage a partnership with you as parent and family/whanau. We want you to feel secure in the knowledge that your child is happy and well cared for as they spend their days here at Early Impressions.

  • KIWI ROOM

The Kiwi Room, with its warmth and coziness of home, is where infants begin their journey in our centre. We offer a space for children aged between 3- 18months to learn and grow in the safety and security of a primary caregiving relationship with their teacher. This is supported by a secondary caregiver which allows children to build subsequent strong bonds. We believe that from this foundation the infant is able to go out and explore the world with confidence, freely moving and following their naturally unfolding curiosity.

  • FANTAIL ROOM

Our dedicated toddler room is home to 18 -20 toddlers and 3-4 kaiako. Toddlers are at stage when they are fine tuning all their working theories and they do this best by asserting their independence and testing the boundaries. Knowing when to stand back and watch them navigate life and when to intervene with kind hands and warm hearts is were the magic truly begins for this age group. Our toddlers need to experience the very best of relationships, so that they are experiencing the very best that life has to offer.

  • PUKEKO ROOM

In the Pukeko room children are starting to value the meaning of friendships. They are starting to explore the skills and strategies to initiate and maintain friendships within a group setting. Kaiako in the Pukeko room foster an environment in which children are able to work collaboratively with each other so they have opportunities to explore these life long skills slowly and over time. Rituals and relationships are at the core and everything positive stems from here. This is a place that where we value play and ‘pottering’ about.

We provide a rich play environment to meet your child’s deep need to learn about the world through their own explorations. True play comes when your child feels safe, genuinely free to choose, and has access to materials that enables them to fulfill their inner drives and their natural thirst for learning.

A PREPARED ENVIRONMENT IN HEAD, HEART AND HAND

Beauty at the core

Our inviting environment is full of beautiful natural resources to engage children’s hands, minds and hearts. Our huge outdoor environment allows for rich exploration, and being at home in the natural world. Your child will discover at their pace, and move between indoors and outdoors without restriction. Free movement and development is at the core of our approach.

In- and outdoor flow

Our environment combines the essential ‘ingredients’ of play, social interactions, life skills and the natural environment. Our indoor-outdoor flow puts the children in the ‘driver’s seat’ of their learning - going where their curious minds and eager hands take them. It honours who our children are and what they are looking for, and help them on the road to self-knowledge.
