Early Impressions Learning Centre

Heart-centred. Play-inspired. Child-led.

AROHA - WELCOME

When you are looking for an early childhood education for your child, you are about to make one of the most important decisions. Your child only has one childhood and you want it to be magical and enriching.

For that to happen your child needs first and foremost to feel safe, to feel loved and to feel cared for. Only then can they engage in play and learning, and build those precious positive memories that take them by the hand for the rest of their life!

That is why for us the relationship is all that matters and we place an emphasis on heart-centered connections.

A HOMELY PLACE

Our children are eating, playing, sleeping, resting, pottering and living a huge number of their early childhood years with us. Their CHILDHOOD! To ensure our environment is worthy of our children we put care into the little things. Early Impressions is a place that feels good to be in, and grow in. A place meant for childhood! A homely place with heart!

A CARING TEAM

Children need trusted adults, a strong secure base to stand in for their absent loved ones. To be able to rely on us, they must feel safe. The strongest relationships grow when the adult provides exactly the sort of care that children need. Our teachers infuse love, nurturing, and care into all of their interactions, and the environment they carefully prepare!

A LIVING PROGRAMME

At Early Impressions we are not just ‘doing’ care, but embracing kindness and care as our way of being. Respectful caregiving practices and a peaceful programme are the essentials for a place full of aroha. Our programme focuses on play with loose parts and rituals as the cornerstones. Your child will play, learn, and unleash their imagination, all in a days work!

The environment we prepare for children matters. We want it to say, “Come. You belong here. You can be yourself. Come and see. Come and PLAY”.

— The Heart School

OUR BELIEVES

We believe that our children need to grow and develop at their own pace and follow their own path. We use a strengths-based lens and cherish the moment. We don’t fall into the ‘not yets’. Each child is doing exactly as they should be. We believe our role is to guide them by celebrating their play, upholding trust, embracing kindness and authenticity, honouring community and valuing beauty.

Every moment can be a learning experience. We actively seek insight and inspiration and we passionately believe in respectful care and relationships. This is interwoven in all we do and are; our place, our people and our programme.

Come and visit us to see for yourself.

We believe that children are constantly researching the meaning of life- what it means to be human, what it means to be "me" in relation to their whanau and the wider community. We are here to help them.

Nurturing little Hearts

Every human being longs for a sense of belonging, a connection, a place to push down their roots. Our spacious outdoors is a living, engaging environment for play, gardening and adventure. It is the heart of our setting, and fosters a deep connection to this space, each other, and Papatuanuku.

Keeping the family at Heart

Our parents and their children are a unit. At Early Impressions, we care for both in order to care for one. We value the knowledge of your child and respect your instincts. We believe that with the right interactions, we can be part of the village that helps raise your child.
